August Monthly Saturday Night Dance

It’s time for another Charlotte Westies monthly dance! For August our special guest instructor will be West Coast Swing All-Star Andrew (Drew) Mitchell. He will be teaching an intermediate lesson starting at 8:15 before the dance, and dancing with everyone afterwards.

Drew was exposed to the art of song and dance early and often during childhood. As an athlete in high school and into the collegiate level, he discovered the techniques of ballet, hip hop, and jazz worked hand-in-hand with building his athletic abilities. Ultimately, his love for dance and athletic competition culminated with him training to become a full-time ballroom dance instructor and competitor. Like many of us, Drew discovered West Coast Swing along the way and has never looked back. As a WCS All-Star dancer, Drew has traveled the world competing and spreading his love and knowledge of West Coast Swing.

PLEASE NOTE: the pre-dance lesson is for intermediate level dancers who have a strong command of WCS basics, and is not appropriate for beginner level dancers. For newer dancers, Charlotte Westies offers beginner lessons every Wednesday night at The Bearded Buffalo in Belmont, NC. Beginner lessons are also available every Tuesday night at Lynn’s, hosted by Carrie Smith.
