Charlotte Westies’ Thursday nights at Dynamic Ballroom are all about HAVING FUN! It’s a great opportunity for dancers at all levels to learn from, and dance with, some of the top dance professionals in the world, including West Coast Swing Champions Patty Vo, Jason & Annmarie Marker, Michael Kiehm, Michael Kielbasa, Nicole Zwerlein, and WCS All-Stars Elise Herman, Whitney Bartlett, Chris Wrigley, and others.
NO PRIOR DANCE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. SINGLES AND COUPLES ARE WELCOME!!
Each week features two classes that run at the same time, followed by a social dance.
TIMES / CONTENT:
8:00-9:00 Beginner Class
This highly-personalized class teaches the basic rhythm and footwork of the dance, along with the most basic patterns. Participants are welcome (and encouraged) to repeat until they have a solid grasp of the basics.
8:00-9:00 Fundmentals+Technique Class
This rotating course curriculum builds upon the basics (see above) and covers a series of West Coast Swing fundamental patterns and concepts. For newer dancers, it’s an ideal way to expand pattern selection and begin developing proper connection. For more experienced dancers, it provides the necessary instruction along with the opportunity to work on both pattern and connection techniques practiced by more advanced dancers.
9:00–10:45 Social Dancing
The social dance is appropriate for all levels of dancers, and a great way to practice what you learned in class.
COST: $15 for the entire evening – includes lessons and dance.
DATES: Every Thursday night with an occasional exception for holidays or special events.
ABOUT THE VENUE: Dynamic Ballroom in Cornelius near the shores of Lake Norman is a well-loved option for dancers throughout the region, and especially among those coming from the north side of Charlotte. It is a great facility with a large hardwood dance floor, plenty of free parking, and lots of restaurants nearby. Charlotte Westies’ is thrilled to offer Thursday night West Coast Swing lessons and dances at Dynamic.
